Progress - Lesson: 21/10/15
Animatic
- We're near completion with the structure of our animatic.
- What we have to do in the coming days is put illustrations into the film with premier as lots of the frames aren't to clear as to what they're portraying.. We could also apply various effects like slow wipe to show the camera reverse panning/ circling Anna.
- Increasing the colour saturation, hue and brightness might make the animatic more pleasing to the eye.
Logistics
- We've pretty much finished the callsheet and risk assessment.
- On the Sunday some of the trains aren't running and so replacement busses have been issued instead. This would have taken 3+ hours to get to Seaford and starting to film at 1 isn't really an option so we're thinking that instead of going to Seaford on the Sunday we'll go on the Monday and do filming in Tonbridge on Sunday instead.
- This is fine so long as we let the cast know asap.

After Effects Practice and Slow Mo
After Effects
We still need to master this effect as it will take a lot of practise but we are determined to do so!
SLOW MOTION -
We have decided that we do want to use Slow Motion if possible.
- For our media, we would like to use after effects. There is a particular effect we want to use in our video which is when our protagonist holds a photo frame and the contents in the photo comes to life.
- On Monday 19th October, we all spent out lunchtime with Mr. Fiveash (Media Technician) learning how to do this. This was very helpful and we know what we need to do. We also now know that it is possible to achieve the effect we want.
- We are considering putting in some Slow Motion footage in our video.
- To do this, we will use Mia's phone which has a slow motion setting.

Group: Schedule and Update Concept Development
- The dates on which we have decided to film are on the 25th and 26th of October.
- Our ideas have moved forward as we have talked with the after effects expert(MR Fiveash) and have figured out how to do the shots we were intending to do.
- For example we have figured out how we can do a time lapse around character A but excluding her. Using layers and brush tools.
- The same can be said for the shot of the photo coming to life. The use of after affects has allowed doors to open to these shots.
- Our questionnaire has been completed with 10 questions and uploaded to monkey survey in the aim of getting feedback on how to create the correct mood by using the correct props for this task.
- The storyboard is coming together with over half of the freeze frames done.

Group: Planning Progress - Final stages
We're approaching half term and our final preparations for the productions are under way. Although we have the bulk of our planning done (which can be seen in the pitch), these final stages are crucial and can be divided into categories to establish a short list of 'to do's'.
Logistics
- We need to finalise the dates in which to film. Sunday the 1st of November and Monday the 2nd of November are definites so long as the actors are both available then. Therefore we need to inform them as soon as possible and decide whether we'll need more time.
- Getting down to the seven sisters and Eastbourne isn't possible by rail so we need to get a lift from a parent or friend. The choices are my parents, Hamish's parents, or a friend drive us down. We probably shouldn't ask the actor's parents (a happy actor is a happy crew).
- We have to decide and let the actors know what clothing they need to wear.
Animatic
- Story board completion (preferably this week)
- Filming of the frames and editing (next week)
Knowledge
- Go to Mr Fiveash and discuss how we could do the picture frame idea, the old worldy POV camera style, slo mo and finally a time lapse with a normal speed actor in the same shot.

Pitch Feedback
We presented our pitch as a group to the class and received some good feedback
Strengths:
- Detailed concept and track breakdown
- The locations were relevant and a good choice
- Impressed with the Kite idea as a signifier
- Narrative and music were linked well
Areas for development:
- We need to go over the section about our character rejecting her friends. The class and teachers did not think this would fit so well with the rest of the music video.
- We should think about grey-scaling and how much we want to do because too much may not work well for the cliffs section as we want the colour of the white cliffs to be present
- We could perhaps imply that the boyfriend jumped off the cliff, or his death is to do with the cliffs creating even more reason for her to go to the cliffs.

Group: Discussion in class
Today in class we discussed how our pitch will be an improvement from last years pitch at AS.
These are the following things that we think will be progress:

- We will look at more locations and do recces as we know that we will need to use more locations than we did for our horror movie
- We will have a better idea of what shots we want to do and use as our 'star' shots
- We now have knowledge about the challenges that we will face e.g. with timing
- We also will include our casting in our pitch as none of us will be acting in it
