M.P: Reflection on Shoot 3

Date: November 6th 2015

The Park
  •  Hamish and I had a free period last so we went to meet our actor Luke. We filmed various shots of him at the park. One of these shots was a close up of his face talking to the camera. We tried to make it look as if Anna was filming him.
  • Another one of the shots is one of the camera following him whilst he walks a round whilst laughing and smiling at the camera. He then puts his hand in front of the lense to make it look like he doesn't want to be filmed.
  • We then met Anna and Fred and proceeded to do more filming in the park. However, we were under strict time regulations because it was getting very dark quickly and the weather was not good, causing it to be even more dark.
  • I filmed a shot of Anna looking at the camera (camera being 'Luke'), whilst walking. I did the same for Luke. I directed both of them in this shot and told them to smile and talk and laugh. As I was filming, I was also talking to them and directing them what to do at that time.
  • We were able film a good number of shots in the park. When it became too dark, we then proceeded to Fred's house.
Fred's Garden
  • In Fred's back garden, he has a fire pit. We all set up the fire so it would keep going for the length of our filming. At this point, it was pitch black and there was very light rain meaning it would not affect us making a fire.
  • Fred had prepared the sparklers and we first tested out to see how well the light would be with the sparklers. It showed up very well on the camera and the lighting was very good on a whole. We were able to see our actor's faces from the reflection off the fire and the light coming from the sparklers.
  • I filmed one of the shots where the camera was at a low angle looking through the fire.
  • We all took turns taking various shots.
We initially were not going to film in the park or at Fred's house for the memory scenes. However, it was a challenge to get both our actors at the same place on the day. We were originally going to film in Eastbourne for the memory scenes at the beach. However, with costs and time, we were unable to do this. We then changed the location to Hastings, as it is a closer beach, however, our actors could not make it the same days. We did not want to leave our filming too late because this footage is vital for us to go ahead with the editing successfully. After discussion with the group and the actors, we agreed to compromise and film in the park and Fred's garden in Tunbridge Wells. This location was easier to access for everyone and our actor Luke was able to get here due not having school obligations that day.
